If you've not used PowerBI before and don't have the software installed on your machine, you might be wondering where to start. The following post will talk you through the steps required to install and open the software.
- Access https://aka.ms/pbiSingleInstaller
- Click the button 'Download' Button
- If you want to download the 64 bit version, tick the box next to 'PBIDesktopSetup_x64.exe'. If you want to install the 32 bit version, tick the box next to 'PBIDesktopSetup.exe'
- Click 'Next'
- After a couple of seconds, the installer will download your machine
- If you're using Chrome, execute the installer by clicking on the installer at the bottom of the window
- Once the installer starts you'll see the following window
- Ensure the correct language is selected and then click 'Next' then you'll be presented with the following
- Click 'Next' and then you'll see the 'Terms and Conditions' window
- Tick the box to accept the Licence Agreement and click 'Next', you'll then see the following
- Ensure the correct folder is displayed. If you are unsure, leave the folder as displayed above and click 'Next' to see the following
- Click 'Install' and then the installation will commence
- After a few minutes, the installation will be complete and the following window will be displayed
- Click 'Finish' and then PowerBI will load whilst displaying the following splash screen
- Once loaded the following screen will be displayed
- If you have an Office 365 account that you would like to use, click the 'sign in' button and follow the on-screen prompts.
- If you don't have an Office 365 account to use or you arent sure if you have one, click the X to close the splash window
- You'll now see the following screen and you're ready to use PowerBI
